Childbirth coach, birth attendant and birth companion are many different ways to describe what a doula is. Doulas aren't medical professionals. They don't deliver babies or provide medical advice. Doulas assist and advocate for the birthing parent. Their goal is to help women have a safe and satisfying childbirth. This course will teach you the ins and outs of the birthing process and how you, as a doula, can assist the birthing person in creating unique memories that will be remembered all their life.
A doula is very different from a midwife. We'll start the course by explaining the role and responsibilities of a doula and how their job differs from that of a midwife. You'll learn how to support mothers through pregnancy and labour with emotional and physical support. In addition, we'll apprise you of pain and stress management techniques and ways to create a positive birthing environment, including how a doula can support the partner and family members with words of encouragement and information.
Next, we'll teach you how to recognise and address pregnancy complications and make the 'Golden hour' after birth magical to the newborn and the parents. Finally, you'll learn how to help parents overcome postpartum mood disorders (PMDs). Supporting new parents through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum is something that you can start at any stage of life. Working with birthing families is more than just a career; it's a calling. Do you want to embark on a fulfilling and exciting journey as a doula? Then don't wait. Start the course now!
